Snapshots from Penicuik Estate

peacock butterfly
Penicuik Estate has become very autumnal over the past few days. There are fungi galore, all different ones. It's time to go and round up the book I have about them. Butterflies are still about and the one above was very obliging about posing. I managed to get super close and that was a good thing as I was using my camera phone which loses a lot of definition if I have to use the zoom.
The above mushroom was about 15 cm in diameter! It reminded me very much of the sea shore
We spotted the first tree whose leaves have all turned already.
