The Sunday paper magazines came up trumps when I made this latest collage in my 5 x 8" Moleskine journal. The background is an image from the Amalfi coast, the words from a Dutch magazine (although they are in Italian!), while the foreground figure is a self-portrait by Natalia Goncharova (1907-08). She made it into the magazines because of the exhibition about her work in Tate Modern at present. The postage stamps is Italian to go with the background and to add an element of mystery to go with Natalia and the words. I do like to make up stories to go with the imagery.
