Hair Ice



During a dog walk with a friend some time ago we saw what I thought was snow on an otherwise just frosty day. She explained it was hair ice. Today the conditions were much the same and I scrambled down to take pictures. Hair ice consists of ice crystals on rotten wood (see extra) caused by the fungus Exiodiopsis effusa
