Golden Showers

This morning it was lovely, sunny and warm even though when I walked the dogs the mist was still rolling around to our east, laying low in the valley. The sun soon burned it up and I sat stitching in the garden. It has now clouded over somewhat but that gives me time to write this post. It struck me today how many flowers in the garden have yellow as some part of them. The potato flowers have that very strong yellow at the centre of them.
Sad to say that I never knew potatoes even had flowers till we came here and John started growing them. And I was stunned by the beauty of those tiny blooms as well as by the amazing taste of home grown potatoes. We have already had our first meal with some of them.
And yellow is also hidden in the heart of what I call fluffy daisies.
All these flowers are showering yellow my way but none do it quite as well as this rose that has the name Golden Showers! It also has a good scent.

I always feel that I should apologize for the unending stream of flower photographs that appear here during the summer but have now told myself to stop doing that. I love flowers. That's a significant fact of life as far as I am concerned. I also love colour. And fortunately the two come together beautifully in every flower I've ever seen. So from now on, no more excuses. Just flowers!

And also art when I have something to show you, which will be in the near future,  as the Festival of Quilts opens today so I can reveal a few pieces of mine that will be making their debut there in a variety of exhibitions, and I also have an almost finished journal to share with you soon. Promise!
