It was White

It was white and it was wonderful this morning when Rueben and I set off for our morning's dog walk. There were no tracks in the virginal snow and it was very quiet. The only sounds that could be heard were bird song up in the trees, the sound of a plane invisible in the grey sky and the crunching of the snow under my boots.
The ordinary world had been turned into an extraordinary snowy fairytale during the night and snow flowers were blooming along the railway track.
There is no denying that I love snow even though it makes travelling difficult. I was meant to be at Thistle Quilters this morning and was hoping for an early snow plough through the lane. But needless to say this little lane is not on their priority list and although one might just pass by sometime during the day it wasn't to be for this morning so instead I will have to entertain myself in the studio.
Or just maybe I will go out and play in the snow some more using my camera to capture it all.
The white softness prettifies everything, even this gate with a sign in front of it that would read (if you could see it) Multi Hazard Area (it's a peat field) in luminescent yellow. Covered in snow it merely become serene and rustic.
Even the already lovely pine cones take on a new sort of beauty when topped by snow.

  1. This is the same kind of "fluffy" snow fall we had a few weeks back. Yes it makes everything look "clean" and even though it is white your photos show how many "shades" there can be...lovely (sorry you missed your meeting though)

  3. What a lovely place you live in. The woods are so pretty iced with snow.
