The new prompt on Colour Me Positive was: Smile, and the art challenge to put a smile on your pages. I went not just for a smile but a belly laugh that originated on an advert by Dolce & Gabbana (featuring their bag and glasses, not the outfit!) and for the rest simply tried to make this an as happy looking spread as possible.
The background was painted and stencilled using just one stencil (L147 Garden Swirl by Stencilgirl), and I added more imagery by collaging on bits of flower themed tissue paper as well as tissue wrap (by Tim Holtz). Then our happy looking nun was added.
The page had quite a flowery look by now and I added more flowers using an ArtistCellar stencil (ACS065 designed by Willowing i.e. Tamara Laporte). After stencilling on using white I coloured in the flowers with paint markers. I added a sparkling centre to some of the flowers. The word JOY was stamped on in various places.
I wrote on a quotation in a white marker that reads: "Smile like you've never cried, fight like you have never lost, love like you have never been hurt and live like there is no tomorrow". Finally I stencilled on the words LAUGH WITH PLEASURE (from The Crafters Workshop TCW467 Live Love Laugh stencil) and with a Stabilo All pencil wrote: Just Smile, on the bottom right hand side of the spread.
I think it's a spread that definitely brings a smile to your face.
