Flower Carpet

This quilt came back safely from the British Quilt and Stitch village show held last weekend in Uttoxeter with the 1st prize in the contemporary quilt section. I filled in the entry form at the end of 2019 and we all know what happened next! So it’s great the show finally took place and with such a joyful result!

Portobello Old Parish Church

I was visiting the Milton Quilters show today at Portobello Old Parish Church. The show is still on tomorrow as well and I can highly recommend a visit. The quilts are gorgeous and the home baking delicious.

While there I couldn't resist looking around the little graveyard attached to the church and this gravestone caught my attention with it's elaborate carving. There is another stone nearby with exactly the same palm front patterns and without a doubt done by the same hand.

The text on this one reads:
In memory of
Isabella Grigor
wife of
Robert Scott
died Feb. 14th 1880
aged 67.
Blessed are the pure in heart
for they shall see God
also
Robert Scott
born July 3rd 1805
died July 3rd 1885
