I make absolutely no excuses for reminding you all once again that the Collage Mania event is coming up in 4 days!! On the 5th of May you can start buying one of the art collages featured here.
Today I'm so honoured to be able to report that Virginia Spiegel, the instigator of this great event, has featured my collage New Dawn (detail of the beaded sun on this collage can be seen above) on her blog where you will also find answers to all questions regarding what to do to obtain this and other beautiful pieces. A unique opportunity as this is the last year for the Collage Mania event.
All money raised (yes, absolutely every last penny!!) will go to the American Cancer Society and what could be better. You will notice that under my collage it says In memory of Amanda.
She was one of my fellow pupils back in the early nineties, when we were both doing our City and Guilds in Embroidery. Amanda was a few years younger than I was and was over the moon to have a beautiful baby during the course. Sadly only a few months later she was diagnosed with colon cancer, went into a hospice where she was still stitching away on projects for the course when we visited her, but tragically she dies a few days later.
Thinking of her always reminds me of the fragility of life and how it can be suddenly taken away from us and it has impressed upon me to make the very most of every single day, while I can.
