Dawn Spread

Believe it or not, but sometimes I make art not for any particular reason but just because I can! This is the product of one such occasion when I felt an urgent need to brighten my life by playing with some of my most favourite art supplies such as my acrylic paints and inks, stencils and watersoluble oil pastels.  It was made in the large Dylusions journal, the one that we are meant to be using for The Documented Life 2015. I think I have made my art for that project in this journal once so far. More often I stick to making a page that fits my planner. But the journal lays on my work desk every day to tempt me to play in it.
For the background of this page I used my gelli plate and a succulents stencil from Stencilgirl. I added the punched out circles on the right from a previous gelli plate printed piece of cardstock and then decided that the negative piece left after punching out the circles also looked great so that deserved a spot on the left hand page. After that I just added more and more layers using acrylic paint, dribbling acrylic ink, and using another Stencilgirl stencil to add the red words. Magazine images were cut out and added to the mix as you can see. I did a bit of stamping too, journalled in pencil, and outlined using markers and those pastels.
I specially outlined some of the stencilled words such as courage (my word for this year). And I doodled a bit too.
I must do this more often! Just playing without having any notion of what the final piece will look like, but simply taking it step by step till the final result reveals itself.

I always love seeing your colors. I also look a long time at your designs because the little details are wonderful. You do brights so well, but I have also seen some gorgeous subtle colored pieces.

I love your work. This piece is bright and playful and lovely to look at. A nice reminder to play and make art for the sake of it.
