Way to Go

The dog walk this morning was very wet indeed so a return to the studio was called for today and I'm still catching up on previously made spreads in my art journal on this blog. This particular one was made back on the 8th April and is quite personal so I'm sticking to talking about how it was made though I must admit that even I am a bit lost with all the many layers that were added. It started with acrylic paint and stencilling using stencils from the February and May 2014 Stencilgirl Club. The flowers in the shiny green were produced by using Radiant Gel through the stencil.

Vintage images, washi tape and rubber stamping with a large text stamp as well as a circular image were added to the background and then the focal images were added from magazines as shown. There is even a square of fabric on the page

Images and text were outlined with a variety of black and white markers and I also did some doodling with little white circles.

Although this spread is teetering on the edge of being too busy even for my liking I enjoy the way little fragments of all the layers peek through to the surface. It turned out very differently from my original ideas but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes your art takes you by the hand and leads you in the right direction.

Although I no longer remember exactly how I made it, the spread will always bring back the memory of why I did it, and that is the most important thing in art journalling.
