A Cascade of Roses

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day,
To-morrow will be dying.
(Robert Herrick, 1591-1674)

That seems like a good enough reason to go on a splurge with rose photography today. Above you can see a mix of Albertine and Paul's Himalayan Musk/ The latter is a rampant rambler that is taking over more and more of the fence.
This is a detail from Albertine. It has such a sweet scent that wafts all over that side of the garden.
Kiftsgate is storning up an ash tree and has already made the leap to another one. It's a late flowering rose and so high up that I can't determine if it has any scent but it looks delicious. It's a delicate beauty but a thug for size. Fortunately we can give it it's head in our garden.
