The series of classes that form the Wanderlust 2016 online event also include prompts that appear twice a month, and that we can use to make spreads in our Wanderlust art journal this year (for a total of 26 spreads). I use the small (each page is 5 x 7") Vintage Vanity Art Journal which has those rings (as seen above) to hold it together.I will readily admit I remain unconvinced by them. It also has a variety of pages although so far I have only used the plain white ones.
Our 5th prompt was: "What I see in the Mirror", and this is my interpretation. I found a suitable quotation that says; "Mirrors show us what we look like, not who we are".
I started the spread with gesso, then used acrylic paints and several stencils in the background. Hard to tell now but one was the medium sized stencil from the August 2015 Stencilgirl Club. The small dots and squares came from the Timeless Stencil.
The mirror frame was a magazine cutting, and I filled it with silver metallic paint and then glued on the eyes and mouth (from a rubber stamp featuring a face). The blue text was also from a rubber stamp. The circles were stamped on as well, this time using the circular shaped top of a container.
The text was printed out onto a piece of paper out of a vintage book using my computer and printer. Finally the butterfly postage stamp was added and to finish off the pages I dripped on some colours using Tombow watercolour markers.
