June has brought a new theme on The Documented Life Project 2016. It is: Unravelling the past - embracing new beginnings. Our art challenge this week was: Pick a shape and repeat it.
I set to making my background and used lots of stencils in the process (all of them from Stencilgirl). So many in fact that I sort of lost track but they included L380 Circles Layer Me as well as S372 Brick Factory.
I also used a circular rubber stamp from the Mish Mesh set designed by Nathalie Kalbach for Stampendous.
After I was happy with the background I took the large stencil from the very first set I received as a member of the Stencilgirl Club back in January 2014 and sprayed through it over both pages using Liquitex black acrylic spray paint. After it was dry I outlined the shapes with a white marker
Then I used an office stencil (from Fiskars) to mark lots of different sized circles on the pages with a pencil and continued to black out the background around the circles with a black Permapaque marker by Sakura.
I cut out words and sentences from a vintage book and glued them on to the pages as shown. They read: "Giveth me a life in all past time, and addeth substance to the future. My soul hath been here before me?. And then on the facing page it states: "What is wisdom without memory". Both refer to our DLP16 June theme.
I'm working in the 8 x 8" square Dylusions journal for all my Documented Life spreads this year.
