Creativity

The new prompt for this week on Colour Me Positive is: Creativity. The art challenge told us to write on the pages what creativity means to us. I found a quotation by Brene Brown that says: "Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world", which says it perfectly as far as I am concerned.

I started on a background of green and gold paint and added some luminescent orange and yellow to the mix. I knew I wanted the quotation to be the focal point of the spread but before I added it, I stencilled on some celebratory fireworks (from stencil L438 Stylized Fireworks) in a variety of colours. I added stamping to the mix and used an foam stamp (acquired many years ago from a home décor shop) featuring a spiral, and also two text ones, one a large background one with the definitions of art etc. (from Stampers Anonymous) and also a much smaller stamp reading: "to create is to breath.... live a life inspired" by Donna Downey

The words and letters for the quotation came from a variety of magazines and were glued on. I added the 3 circles punched out from copies of my previous artwork (the 2 small ones) and from a gelli plate printed paper (the large circle). I outlined them with water-soluble oil pastels.

I added stamped paint brushes to emphasize the words (from a stamp sheet called Vintage Artist by Creative Expressions).
