The new prompt on Colour Me Positive was: Come Alive, and the art challenge asked that we tell what excites our spirit.
I started the pages (in the A4 Dylusions art journal) by brayering on some high toned paints (they definitely excite me) and then stencilled on the swirls (from an Americana stencil called Segmented Swirls). That created a sense of movement and I found the image of a dancing figure in a magazine, cut her out and used her as a mask and outlined her using white paint.
I found the words partly from a magazine and stamped on the rest. A stamp with the words "To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else..." on a stampsheet called Clocks 3 by PaperArtsy. I added an additional stamped circle (from the stamp set Mish Mesh by Nathalie Kalbach) to the centre of some of the swirls and elsewhere. I used the free stencil of the same stamp set to add some little circles here and there. The small butterflies came from a stamp that was a recent gift. I coloured them in with gel pens.
I wrote quotations about Being Alive along the figure's edge after outlining her with a gold pen. And I also sprayed on more gold on the pages which is hard to see on the pictures but gives a lovely sparkly effect in real life. Another things that excites me!
This is a relatively simple spread compared to most of my work. But the pages looked done at this stage and I was pleased with their overall look.
