We get two prompts monthly from the Wanderlust 2016 class and the second one for October was: What animal would you like to be? That took some thinking about but in the end I came up with giraffe, simply because the views from up where their eyes are would be rather splendid. I stayed with earthy colours to represent the environment in which they live and for good measure added more animals, such as a kangaroo and a panther. It helped that I discovered a giraffe stamp in my collection of foam stamps. I stamped it onto thin paper and collaged it onto the page.
The spread was mainly done with Golden fluid acrylic paints as well as one orange fluorescent one.
Techniques: collage with vintage materials and a postage stamp, rubber stamping, stencilling and outlining.
Materials used: vintage text and images from an old encyclopaedia, postage stamp, rubber stamps (the giraffe and paws both from foam stamps from Creative Stamps - hand made in South Africa, and the other ones from stamp sets designed by Everything Art (the originators of Wanderlust) for PaperArtsy and I also used a stamp from ImpressMeNow. I also used the small and medium stencil from the October 2016 Stencilgirl Club.
You can no longer sign up for the 2016 Wanderlust classed but the good news is that there will be a new series of classes in 2017. Read more about that here.
