The Glory of Humanity

This is my last project for Stencilgirl Products this year but I'm very happy to tell you they have asked me back as Guest Designer next year so I will be back with a new project in January.

In the meantime I'm showing you in this project what to do with packs of blank business cards that you might have bought in the past to make your own originals but that somehow never made it to fruition. I recently discovered that I had not one but several packs and it seemed a shame to waste them. So I made this spread in the black 8 x 8" Dylusions art journal. It's always fun to discover treasures in your own art supplies that you had long forgotten about.
You can find a step-by-step tutorial on the Stencilgirl Talk site today. It includes a list of all the stencils I used for this project. It also mentions the other supplies such as the Writers Block art foamie designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer for Artfoamies.

As you can tell I do love my grids. I'm not a quilter for nothing after all! I think they work best though when they are broken up with curvy and irregular shapes and that's what I have done here.

I made up a poem with cut out texts from a vintage book. It reads:

Imagination is not thought,
Is it but a vision, unstable and unreal,
the stranger of the night
might of imaginary haloes,
sought for a purpose,
that eternity be built on its foundation.
Men and matters change
let a man bide his time
for a good book is the best of friends,
in the secret of their hearts.
Its flower will be happiness and glory!
This is the glory of humanity.

Many thanks to Stencilgirl Products for featuring my work as well as for making the best stencils! I love being a member of their monthly club ( a gift to myself several years ago and that is enhancing my stencil stash ever since every month) and I can't wait what they will come up with in 2017.
