A Fine Winter's Walk

snow on the bamboo
We were greeted by a white world this morning and it soon became clear that Flora had both seen snow before and that she liked it. As luck would have it a lovely coat I had ordered for her had arrived just yesterday and today it was put to the test. It's great as you can directly clip the lead onto the rings on the coat and she took to it like a duck to water.
and also on the ivy

She strode through the snow and had a wonderful time chasing the blackbirds.
Then we took her for a long walk in Deepsyke Forest and I took the camera with me. Above the fire pond which normally tends to look a bit grim but for me is full of memories of our first two dogs who loved to swim here during warm weather. Couldn't help wonder if Flora will be a swimmer come the summer.
The trees looked wonderful with their dusting of white. There will be more as snow is coming down steadily outside as I'm writing this.
Flora is gaining in confidence every day and today for the first time, rather than walking behind or beside me, she was striding ahead with her head and tail up leading her pack! I was so proud of her I almost cried.
To top off this amazing walk we reached the old railway line and spotted 2 deer in the distance. I simply grabbed my camera, pointed it in roughly the right direction and clicked. It turned out to be my favourite picture of the day as Flora also managed to make it into the photograph. As you can tell she too had seen them.
