Sparkling Wings Gothic Arch

Tuesday already and I'm uploading my entry for the Gothic Arches challenge which is Sparkling Wings this week. You can find out all about this challenge on the Gothic Arches blog. I'm really amazed every week how soon people seem to upload their arches. I reckon they must be sitting at their computer, ready for the new challenge theme to appear and then race into their studio and get going. I need a bit more time to get myself into gear. Started yesterday by selecting the background and finished the arch today. The background is a fabric/paper collage from my December Journal Quilt (which I will upload later this month in time for Christmas) and added a Victorian scrap wing in copper as well as the copper scrap border (both from Artchix Studio). I then beaded the wing with size 11 seed beads in a sparkling turquoise colour. Added a large face pebble (also Artchix) to the angel's face and also the text which reads: an angel dropp'd down from the clouds.

I love this shape and also the fact that I get to keep the Arches. I'm so bad about letting go of my art!! I'm thinking of ideas what to do with them all once I have a collection and maybe I will actually make a fabric book to accommodate them all. I haven't got that many just yet, but if I do them every week I will have 52 in a year!

Sorry you had to wait ages for this post but my internet connection was playing up yet again!!

This is really pretty. I'm thinking of making mine into a book too, once I have a few saved up. I've only (officially) made one, and I've just traded it, but I intend to keep all the others.

Frieda, this is really beautiful. For some reason this shape is not my favorite (I know many will disagree!!) but I love the fabric collage you have created here for this challenge. Simply said, it's stunning. I was especially happy I could see it in more detail when I clicked on it! I love your angel's face & the way you have highlighted it with the clear disk.
Thank you for sharing all your art!
