How Amazing! Textile Experiments exhibition open

The Textile Experiments exhibition is now open in Pforzheim, Germany. It's going to travel to many other venues in Germany and Switzerland during 2008/9 and you can read all about it here. You can also order a CD with all the exhibits on it on the same website if you should not be able to make it to any of the venues (like me!). As I'm a participating artist, my CD arrived today.

The remit of the exhibition was to use a different medium as well as traditional fabric to make 1 or 2 20 cm square quilts (that's approx. 8" square).


My additional medium was paper and my two quilts use a fabric background (velvet), which is heavily machine stitched and then I applied inchies made from one of my fabric/paper collages. I made 2 special collages just for this purpose. My first quilt is called Italian Windows .

It seems like absolutely ages since I made these (autumn last year) but now that the exhibition is up and running I can show them here too. Not sure if I will ever see them again as they are both up for sale. You will also notice that they were very much inspired by my Houston Journal Quilt 2007 which I had only just finished when I started work on these two.
