More Roses

In the last few days all the rain that had not fallen in our very dry spring/summer so far, came down in one huge outpouring, accompanied by lightning and thunder. The only thing that re-conciled me to these conditions was that the garden could really do with the water, and that it gave me time to catch up with my quilting.

Fortunately I had taken more photographs of my roses as they are now in a very bedraggled state. I'll show you some more in the very near future but here is one to keep you going!

I'm hosting a Roses ATC Swap on the ATCsforAll site and have already received some really stunning cards so I thought it was time to make my own cards as well. To this end I made one of my fabric/paper collages, using rose images, French vintage text (roses are so French, to me!) as well as paper napkins featuring roses of which I have a great many in my collection.

I cut out ATC sized pieces from the resulting collage and layered them with felt. I then used some of my rose stamps (again I seem to have acquired a great many of these!!) and using red Staz-On inkpad added them to transparencies. These were stitched onto the collaged background. Vintage text was added. I layered the ATCs with a paper backing and finished the edges with red zigzag stitching.

I made 4 cards in total, 3 for the swap and one for me to keep and I finally settled on the one above for this.
