Yellow and Brown ATCs

The November colour combination for Colour Groupies is Yellow and Brown. Although unplanned this really proved to be very suitable for this time of year, reflecting as it does the wonderful colours of the leaves both on the ground and still remaining on the trees.

I do have a list of our combinations in my handbag at all times and this is very useful when I find myself somewhere where you can buy fabrics (a frequent occurrence!!). And thus iT was that I came across a beautiful brown and yellow fabric at a quilt show quite some time ago now and this is the month where I could put it to good use.

The fabric was layered with Fast2Fuse and I free-machine quilted to outline the flowers. I added corners of a vintage hankie in just the right colours, along one side of the ATC and then added a variety of different vintage images (all from Altered Pages) to the ATCs by stitching them on with a zig-zag stitch and using a brown sparkly thread. I also beaded around the edges to make it look like a frame. A ricrac ribbon in brown helps with this illusion. I added a variety of face pebbles in yellow or brown to the faces of the vintage people in the images.
A bit of trim was also added, as well as vintage text, and the ATCs were then finished by adding the same fabric to the back by ironing to the Fast2Fuse and zig-zag stitches around the edges with a variegated thread.

The cards have arrived with Tristan, Lenna, Debby and Caryl safely and the Little Sylvia ATC was handed over in person by me yesterday! I also made one extra one for me to keep as I do almost always with my ATCs so The Poor Fellow will have to put up with being one of my demonstration ATCs.
