Winter White

What is it they say? Be careful what you wish for! My wish for snow has come true with a vengeance and although we are not snowed in completely (only going in one direction so far), that time is drawing very near. And more snow is still coming down all the time. The snow is rising higher and higher on my knee-high boots and the house is taking on the appearance of a snowy cottage.

In fact, the whole country has come to a grinding halt. And I'm not just speaking of Scotland. No, the whole UK has become snow-bound. People have spend up to 9 hours in their cars, completely stuck. And some of them without either food or drink. At least that is something we in Scotland know how to do better.
You never find me in my car without at least 1 book (more essential to me than either food or drink!), usually more. I also go out and about equipped with either a Mars bar or a pack of Revels (okay, I'll be honest, I actually have both!) as well as a bottle of smoothie. Yes, it might be super unhealthy (the smoothie is meant to make up for this) but chocolate provides you with the necessary calories in a very pleasant manner.
In winter I also carry a blanket as well as a snow shovel in the car for extreme emergencies but let's be honest, who wants to be rescued when reading a good book while consuming a Mars bar. Just leave me be!!

Just in case you're wondering about what happened to art, let me re-assure you. I'm achieving a lot in these days when we're more or less house-bound. I'm working on a quilt with 200 blocks, each 4" square with 27 separate elements in each block (I must be mad!!!) and am well on my way to finish all the blocks before 2010!!

Yes, you are officially mad :)

You have a lot more snow than we do. I've always got a book / magazine in the car - along with blanket, walking boots, torch.......

Hope you don't get totally snowed in - but what an excuse to snuggle down in front of the fire. Hope you keep the electricity.
