April Fool's Day

However things haven't been much of a joke here! It's been another long day with absolutely no art coming out of my hands. Instead we have been trying to check with neighbours on the conditions in our little lane. And when I talk about neighbours you have to remember that they are mostly more than a mile or more away. The houses are far apart along this rural road!

Apparently there are quite a few trees down further down the lane but despite a valiant effort with both dogs in tow we did not manage to get any further than about 500 yards. The snow was simply too deep and it was exhausting work
We then heard from a neighbour in the opposite direction of the lane that a JCB, snowplough and digger were all trying to make their way in our direction, scooping up the snow as they went. It took them all morning but finally at midday they came over the old railway bridge and passed our gate, with the tractor + attached snowplough making up the rear of the procession
.
I followed them on foot for a bit but the fallen trees must have held them up and I turned around again, collected John and the dogs and this time walked in the direction they had come from. They had left an amazing towering wall of snow in their wake and we can only hope this does not fall on the roof of some unsuspecting motorist. And guess what, and this is NO JOKE, it's snowing again, not a lot but enough to make us slightly worried!

Despite all this I'm still secretly enjoying all the fantastic beauty around us and tried out the panoramic possibilities of Photoshop Elements. At the top of the blog you can see the results, made out of 7 photographs. It took my computer about 1/2 hour to complete the task but this spendid view of the Pentland Hills was definitely worth the wait!

Thank goodness your snow plough got through. That's a huge amount of snow. Must be causing more damage - and the poor lambs must be suffering. They are here - its too cold and wet and they aren't able to cope.

Your photos from yesterday are stunning! Real Christmas card stuff but somehow not so appopriate for Easter! Glad to hear the snow plough finally made it. It is hard to believe that we are only a few miles from you and we have not one snowflake. Living near the sea has its advantages. Keep warm.
