Plum and Pomegranate ATCs

Yet another gorgeous colour combination (originating from Lenna) that also seems to promise a lovely taste sensation! And all the cards have landed with Lenna herself, Caryl and Debby (my fellow Colour Groupies!) so I can reveal my cards here now too.

We know all the colour combinations for this year in advance and I actually carry the list around with me in my purse so that I can consult it when I find myself in a fabric shop or quilt show. But I found the piece of plum fabric I eventually used for this combination in my own stash while rummaging for something else. I layered it up with wadding (batting) and did some machine quilting on it with a decorative stitch. As good luck would have it the transparent fabric with pomegranate coloured hats on it fell out of a drawer when I tried to open it (yep, I definitely have too much stuff!!) and the decision to use it for these ATCs was quickly made. I used ladies from my own vintage postcards on the cards, and managed to find suitable vintage quotations by looking in the index for "hat". The quotation were hidden behind a transparent plum coloured ribbon.

The cards were finished by adding plum coloured ATC blanks to the back and by zigzag stitching in pomegranate around the edges.

At the top are the 3 cards which winged their way to the USA and Canada and just above is the card I kept for myself.

I love ALL of these, Frieda! The transparent hats are so clever.... truly. i also love reading about you carrying your list with you; I have gotten as far as finding it, printing it out, and taping it to the wall of the studio! The colors this year are wild and i love that. i really should go buy a pomegranate to go with the plum I have here, yum! you also work the way i do, with things often suggesting themselves, falling out of piles and into my hands. That is certainly comforting to know : ) lenna
