The sun is shining

and I've giving up on quilting for the moment in order to enjoy the sunshine and to start clearing up the garden. After all that snow there is loads to do but at least being up so close and personal with the borders enables me to see those notorious green shoots coming up everywhere.

It's hard to believe that only 10 days or so ago everything was covered in more than 2 feet of snow! Hopefully that will have been the last of it although we have had snow in May once!!

Gardening is also good for providing thinking time and as I'm being interviewed tomorrow about my quilts I needed some quiet contemplation! The potted up tulips are on their last legs as you can see but they still looked splendid in the sun. Fortunately you can now see the green of the tulips planted in the garden coming up so it won't be too long before we can enjoy those together with the daffodils that are about to explode into colour within the next few days!!

By chance I came across a very appropriate poem today and here it is:
....And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain, and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.
(Algernon Charles Swinburne, 1837-1909)

i think your potted tulips still look beautiful, Frieda! I love the way they are flopping over and showing off their dual colors - perhaps a good color combo?? : ) lenna
