“To appreciate the beauty of a snow flake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.”

This morning we woke up to discover that all our previous snowshovelling had been extinquished by more snow. In fact double the amount of snow cluttered up the garden and drive as had fallen in the past few days. So we spend all morning clearing the whole lot again, as well as removing the snow from our shed and greenhouse roofs.

It was all made a bit more difficult as the snow is now up above my boots so that it slithers down over the edge down to my socks and freezes my feet. These were the highest boots I could find when I bought them so I'm not sure how to fix that particular problem. But as long as I keep moving it's not too bad

After all that hard snow shovelling we took the dogs for a walk along the lane when the sun came out. We made it as far as about a mile distance, had a chat with some neighbours and then turned around to return home. The heavens choose that time to inundate us with some more snow! And I was only wearing a fleece that wasn't weatherproof. My wardrobe is really letting me down! And yet, I still loved it. The cottage looked like something seen on those chocolate box pictures painted by Dutch 17th century painters!

And of course the sun came out again as soon as we got home! And the snow is not over yet.

Frieda, your photos are amazing . . . especially the one of your cottage, oh mY!! Like a fairy tale. i am so glad to hear the joy in your voice that you are getting your wish for the second year in a row, snow! i think you need some 'gators' to go over your boots. I used to wear them when we walked in the snow in CT :)

I have been looking at all your snow pics, and I am very impressed with your photography skills. The trees are gorgeous, and the photo of your house does look like a painted masterpiece!

Love the pictures Frieda - they are so beautiful. I guess you and John won't be popping down to the village for a few days.

Beautiful photos Frieda. I especially like the misty ones.
Even living here near the sea we have about 10inches of snow lying on the garden. Lots of sewing getting done! Keep warm!xecch

Sitting where I am in Florida (USA), these photos are especially welcome. Though I love being warm I do miss looking out into beautiful snow scenes and walking with the wonderful squeaky crunch underfoot.

Thanks so much for all the great comments and the recommendation re boots! I'm definitely going to get some just as soon as I'm sure they can be delivered. We're completely snowed in at the moment. It's amazing to hear that there is snow even near the sea! Hope you're keeping warm, Doreen! And you're right, Annette, no visit to the village, that is a step too far! we might make it to the organic farm one of these days to get milk for John's tea!
