Out and About

Although all the quilts for the exhibition have been made, that was really the most pleasurable part. Now it's down to some very boring admin tasks, such as writing and making the labels, contacting magazines, sending e-mails, making the display rods (a task I've delegated to John!), writing an artist statement etc. etc. There seems to be no end to the tasks and they are getting on top of me.
So from time to time, when I've had enough, I take to the open road for light relief. I love driving specially as here in our little corner of the Scottish Borders, the roads are still relatively quiet and if you choose back roads, you hardly meet anyone.

So I love taking the car and just drive aimlessly around till I find a little sideroad I haven't discovered before. Then I turn in, usually discover it's a single track road and very soon I'm lost in the stunning Scottish countryside. The only drawback is that there are hardly any passing places in these country tracks so I have become an expert in reversing! Not a bad thing and I was complimented on my skills recently by a caretaker, who said: "You reverse like a man". He was quite surprised when this did not make me laugh!!!

The other things you meet on these rural roads are cattle grids, as seen above, which keep the sheep enclosed in one particular area. Mud and marvelous beech hedges are other rural features that I love. And occasionally today I caught a glimpse of the sun!
After such a drive which can take a long time (sometimes I only cover about 20 miles in an hour because of the conditions), I feel refreshed and ready to tackle the next task on my list!
I found it hard to decide on my blip for the day but in the end settled on the picture at the top.

I would love the kind of drives you talk about, and for the same reasons.
How fabulous that you have this type of joyful experience right out your door!
It must be so refreshing.
Your blip is beautiful too.
Hugs,
Terri
