Vive La Serenissima!

It's very unusual for me to blog twice in one day but the temptation was too great and I wanted to share my good news with you. I was phoned this afternoon by the organisers of the Quilt and Stitch Village 2013  which took place on the 26, 27 and 28th April just past in Uttoxeter to tell me that my quilt La Serenissima (see above) has won the 1st Prize in the Innovative Quilt section.

Hurrah! I always love it when quilts I love myself (and I don't love all the quilts I make!) win prizes as it sort of confirms that my ideas about the work were in line with public opinion. The show had 4 judges so it wasn't just a matter of one person liking it but more. As you can tell by the name as well as by the images this quilt is dedicated to Venice, the city of my dreams! If you want to read more about it you can check it out here.

All this excitement came after the first day we could sit in the sunshine! Oh the pleasure of it all. Now off to enjoy a glass of wine in celebration.
