Dippoolbank Cottage

Poppies
I somehow managed to entice John into a garden visit despite the fact that wind and rain were lashing our own garden. I told him that the weather would be better further west and he believed me despite the fact I was making it up. And miraculously my imaginary prediction came true! We made our way to Dippoolbank Cottage, open through the Scottish Open Garden scheme. It wasn't our first visit. We've been about four times or so and it's always a pleasure. The house is not on the  electricity grid and runs off a generator driven by a wind turbine and solar power as well as diesel. Quite a challenge!
Black Iris
The garden is made by an artist and dedicated gardener and is divided into garden rooms, There are higgledy piggledy paths and little bridges and it's a delight to wander through it and admire the lovely flowers.
Chives
There is so much to see and admire and I'm sure this won't be our last visit!
A fern house with resident pike!

The tree house, a very des res, complete with heater and comfy couch
some sort of aquilegia for which I felt an instant desire
Iris Sibericus
Lily
Poppy
Beautiful archway
And then on the way out I spotted this tree, covered in fungi. I sign of how wet it can be in these parts, but we didn't have a single drop of rain falling on our heads and at some times the sun even peeked out from behind the clouds. Going to see this garden was the right decision for today!

Frieda, what a wonderful garden - I just love the vibrant poppies. My mother had some in a 'wilderness' patch outside the bedroom I slept in as a child. Maybe that is why intense orange is a favourite colour of mine all these years later.
