Write Your Name

The prompt for week 14 on The Documented Life Group was: Write your name and embellish it.
I started with a piece of gelli plate printed paper for the background and a painted paper to cut my letters out off. For this I used my new Brother Scan'nCut Machine which performed very well. I wouldn't have enjoyed cutting all those letters out by hand! Once they were cut I glued them onto position on the background and started to embellish both the letters and the background. I added a self portrait (taken at the ago of approx. 6 or 7 years old) in the form of a transparency as you can see in the above detail.
I used some Dylusions spiral stamps with StazOn ink and coloured them in using a variety of media such as paint markers and water soluble oil pastels.
This was a challenge that didn't require too much thought and offered lots of opportunities to put one's individual stamp on the piece which I did with colour (what else!) and mark making. It didn't take long and was a lot of fun. I do so enjoy colouring in things! As I did when I was the age of the self-portrait. Plus ça change!
