The Golden Glory of Being Alive

This glorious day couldn't be wasted and I hastened to Dawyck Botanical Gardens, arriving before they were even open, in my endeavour not to miss a single second. The best picture today was the one I didn't take with the camera. Rather I saw it from the car at a point where stopping was simply not possible. The early fog was still hanging around in the valleys with the hills and the sunshine rising out from the wafts of mistiness. It was breathtaking, and my internal camera has stored it on the hard disk of my mind. That doesn't mean to say there weren't other magnificent photo opportunities.
I was going to look for fungi but this was not a day to look down to earth. Instead it was one for raising the eyes to the heavens to admire how all the colours of autumn contrasted with the blue sky. The beauty of it all made me want to weep and since the only other living creatures I encountered were pheasants and birds I simply let the tears escape.
I don't have the words in any language to do justice to such beauty so I'm simply leaving you with some of the images.
