Gold at Both Ends

Due to the marvellous weather I am very late this week in showing you my contribution to The Documented Life Project 2016 even though I finished the spread last Sunday. We are continuing with the April theme of: Reaching for Rainbows - creating outside the lines. Our art challenge this week was to create a pocket and fill it. I will admit to sticking to all this in a very loose manner!
To stay with the rainbow theme I simply used all the colours in the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Using so many colours meant I had to let the work dry very well in between the various colour applications and I didn't always do this completely!
For the pocket element of the challenge I used the window part of an envelope and filled it with yet another quotation I found about rainbows: "Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with gold at both ends". (Aberjhani). This too is something I don't always manage well.
To add all the pattern I used just one stancil from Stencilgirl Products but I choose one that is very versatile: the Batik Stencil, designed by Nathalie Kalbach. This ended up a very much darker spread than my usual colour palette but I do like how it looks.
