The prompt this week on Joggles Art Journal Adventures is: color gradations. I made a far less elaborate spread than usual, mainly because it looked done at a certain stage and felt right to me so I stopped. It may also have something to do with the fact that I had rather a lot on this week, so was quite pleased to get these pages finished.
The background was made with Distress Crayons and then colour was removed using a baby wipe and the large stencil from the August 2013 Stencilgirl Club. I found the striped woman in my stash of images and I'm pretty sure she came from a fashion magazine (probably Vogue) as came the words (definitely a lucky find!).
I then spend some time searching for postage stamps in matching colours to the background, and stamped on the numbers. The edges of the pages were blackened using an Archival ink pad.
I'm working in a 6 x 8" notebook, that I made into an art journal by glueing pages together and using a hefty dose of gesso on the pages before I start.
The Artful Adventures have now come to an end and I must admit to missing them. It was such fun and I found myself thinking about our prompts during my visits to The Secret Herb Garden and the Penicuik Estate yesterday and then remembering that the strolls through the hood may be continuing but the project is over. I have made a lot of new friends online and am looking forward to seeing more of their photographs and work. And of course there is Nathalie Kalbach's book Artful Adventures that I can't wait to read.
