The ice road

A challenging walk on the icy lane







And some unexpected garden visitors. Some flew in and others jumped the fence. Apparently Herdwick sheep are known as escape artists and we found a group of them wandering on the lane. Most of them jumped into a field (not their own) and one thought our garden looked more attractive apparently. Waiting for the farmer to sort it all out.

(Re)frozen

Melting has started yesterday but overnight there was more snow and freezing temperatures. The walks were challenging!

This looks very deceptive. Instead of nice soft snow this is rock hard frozen ice. Walking felt more like an Olympic sport than a gentle pastime this morning

On frozen river and pond

It was a very icy day with lots of frost, and it provided me with wonderful photo opportunities during the dog walk in Penicuik Estate, around the Low Pond and the North Esk river.

Low Pond

 The icicles made along the edges and along the overhanging branches in the river North Esk were amazing.
